Program overview
The RN Refresher Program is designed to integrate inactive Registered Nurses back into the Acute Care Environment. This unique program provides the inactive nurse with the supportive environment necessary to refine skills and critical thinking. A sound knowledge base provides the Nurse Refresher with the support and confidence needed to practice in the ever-changing hospital environment.
This ten week program contains 75 hours of classroom content that is pertinent for today’s nurses to effectively & safely practice. Individual learning needs are addressed in the clinical lab, with one-on-one learning opportunities. In addition, 120 hours of preceptored patient care experiences are offered in an inpatient clinical area.
Program requirements
In order to be eligible for the program you must have a current undisciplined Missouri RN license. It is recommended that you have had at least 2 years prior experience in an acute care adult setting at some point in your nursing career.
Part of the approval process also includes the following documentation submitted 2 weeks prior to the beginning of class:
- Physical including:
- Current PPD skin test
- Hx of Rubella, Rubeola vaccine or disease
- Hx of Varicella or titer
- Personal Liability insurance
- Personal Medical Insurance
- Negative drug screen
- Criminal background check
- Current CPR certification
Course tuition
Cost for the entire program, including classroom content, course book, and patient care experiences is $1500, $100 of which is a non-refundable & non-transferable deposit that is due once accepted into the program.
$ 500 is due prior to the start of the class and the balance, plus all course application paperwork, is due a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the start of the course.
The course fee maybe increased at any time without notice. Participants who have already submitted a deposit are exempt from cost increases. Payment will be returned in a pro-rated basis during the first 3 weeks. Reimbursement is available for MBMC hires who stay employed at MBMC at least one year after completion of the program.
